Adamas beach

Adamas is the main port of Milos and the busiest settlement on the island. It has a long narrow strip that merges with the beach of Papikinou to the south.

This beach faces the port and the beautiful village of Adamas. It is protected from the north wind Meltemi which often blows. The sea is shallow and has no waves and therefore suitable for children. The beach has a lot of trees which provides enough natural shading.

Adamas has a nice promenade around the port, with many hotels, restaurants, businesses, and services. If you plan a long summer holiday this is the beach to settle at to explore all the surrounded beaches from here because most of the organized trips are departed from here.

Lagada beach

Heading from Adamas to Kefalos, you will find the signs that will lead you to Lagada beach.

Mytakas beach

Mytakas is another unique fishing village of Milos. It is located on the route from Plaka to Pollonia and is situated between Sarakiniko and Pahena.

They are separated by a high peninsula where you can park. Two beaches are located in the small bay, along with houses. Here boats can dock. These beaches are shielded from the wind. On these beaches are some trees that provide natural shade. The larger beach is to the west where you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. From the canteen, you can order snacks and drinks to enjoy on the beach.

The best time to visit this beach is when no west winds are blowing.

Agia Marina beach

Agia Marina is located in the West of Chania.

Agia Marina is part of long stretch sandy beaches that runs from Stalos to Gerani. Stalos, Agia Marina, and Platanias run into each other forming one long coastal strip and beach. It is the most developed tourist area in the Chania region. It is hard to say where Agia Marina starts and stops but the total length of the beach to the 3 resorts is about 8km.

Picture a holiday where you can relax in the hot sun at the crystal-clear beach while a cold breeze often cools you down while you enjoy a cocktail in the sand with idyllic sunsets!

This area is quite busy but the beach is wide, so it won’t feel cramped.

Where the beach of Agia Marina extends to the beach of Stalos. It is bustling and very well organized. On the western side of the port and close to Platanias you will find artificial coves ideal for swimming.

One kilometer away from the village there is the beautiful cave Nerospilia with a rich cave decoration as it was a place of worship during the Middle Minoan period.

Opposite the beach of Agia Marina lies the island of Agioi Theodoroi, but it cannot be visited. In the islet Theodorou – as the locals call it – you can only go once a year on the day of St. Theodoroi during the celebration of the temple built there.

Over the islet, there is a farm, not only for wild goats, known as kri-kri of Crete, but also for rare bird species. Other mammals such as rabbits and rats also live there.

You won’t have trouble with accommodation, you will find dozens of hotels to stay in and any kind of tourist infrastructure you might need. The best holiday awaits you this summer!

Arkoudes

Arkoudes is part of a group of rocky islets located off the coast of Milos Island in Greece. The rocks appear to show an opening mouth, a nose, eyes, ears, and a body that look rather like bears, hence their names. The rocks are about 20 feet high and the only way to see them is by boat that tours around the island. The natural sculptures are near Plathenia Beach and at the entrance of this bay of Milos.

Fatourena beach

If you follow the coast road around the Bay of Milos and turn off for Embourios at the crossroads before Agia Marina, you reach the beach of Fatourena.

Fatourena Beach is by a shallow lagoon that is more or less separated from Ormos Milou by a narrow promontory. On the outer side of the promontory facing the bay lies

A visit to Fatourena is worthwhile, especially if you would like to benefit from the location. Although the approach on the road, which is asphalted as far as Agia Marina, is very comfortable and the beaches are significantly quicker to get to than the truly isolated beaches of the west coast, very few visitors find their way here. Fatourena is perfectly fine as a sand and pebble beach and both the view across the Bay of Milos to the villages opposite and the nearby lagoon offer a really beautiful backdrop.

Glaronisia

Hotel Glaronisia is located in the beautiful village of Pollonia, on the north side of Milos island, 8 km from the Admas port.

Glaronisia is not a beach but a complex of islets that are found north of Milos, a bit off Papafragas beach. Glaronisia Island is much more than a pin on the map! Just because you don’t see sights, restaurants, hotels, or points of interest listed here, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Kalogeros

Kalogeros is located 57 km south of Chania city, 11 km east of Sougia, and 1 km west of Agia Roumeli. The beach is located close to the west end of Agia Roumeli. Just to the west of Papafrangas lies the tiny bay of Kapros. You can only access it by boat or by swimming from Agia Roumeli.

Kalogeros means monk and is named after a huge vertical rock.

Although Kalogeros is a perfect beach with deep blue water and beautiful pebbles and a lot of pine trees, there are no amenities closely. Kalogeros is preferred by nudists.

It is a favourite photographic subject but because of the lack of space and its position right on the road, it is not so important as a bathing beach.

Kipos beach

Kipos is a small beach on the southern side of Milos. A delightful treat! Accessible by car or by boat.

A quiet little beach with great sensation is what describes Kipos the best. The clear water makes this a beautiful and worth visit beach.

Kolibisionas beach

Kolibisionas is a remote beach on the eastern side of Milos. Accessible through a track road or by boat.

If you want to break away from the busyness and have your privacy- this is the go-to beach. It has a unique wild landscape with a pebble shore and bright blue water with short vegetation. Keep in mind that there are no tourist facilities in this area, and the closest village is Pollonia.

Psarovolada beach

Psarovolada is a lovely and charming beach next to Agia Kyriaki, on the southern side of the island.

This island is smaller in size than Agia Kiriaki and also less popular. The crystal-clear blue water with high cliffs as a backdrop is a describes of Psarovolada the best. The beach has soft sand that adds to its charm together with crystal clear water. No formal tourist facilities with the closest located at Agia Kiriaki, only a short distance away by foot. This beach is also accessible by boat.

Psathi beach

Located about 40 minutes north of the dock and main area, Psathi beach can be found on the northern side of the island. The drive is worth it. Best accessed via a car as there is not a lot around, the closest and only restaurant is about 5 minutes walking away. Unfortunately, the restaurant nearly never menu looks good but rarely had available what was on offer. You can also access the beach via a shuttle bus that goes to and from the northern area into the city daily for very cheap. You can step out of the hotel and literally on the beach, it such a beautiful place. With a limited of rooms available, only 5 rooms by my best guess, it is so available. You need to make sure of your booking as rooms may be scarce at times, this is all dependent on the season. This is a very nice and quaint place. The facilities in each room are excellent. You will have a fridge, aircon, television, kettle. I had the beach all to myself most of the time which created a very peaceful and calm environment.

Rivari beach

Rivari is very close to Embourios, the only inhabited settlement 2 Km northwest from Milos and next to Fatourena beach. When you reach the old church of Agia Marina, you will see Rivari from the above before you descend to it.

Rivari can be divided into a lagoon and a beachside. The outer part of the lagoon has a long and narrow strip with sand and gravel. The low-growing trees providing shade and nests for the migrating birds.

There are no facilities and very few people.

Tria Pigadia Beach

This remote and small beach on the eastern side of Milos is called Tria Pigadia, situated between the Agali and Kastanas beaches with the Pollonia village being the closest. Accessibility through tp the beach via boat or Jeep track. No tourist facilities and not formally organized. The coast of Tria Pigadia is a bit uncomfortable to walk on because of the rock’s that dot the landscape. This surrounding is and wild, with low cliffs and short grass and shrubs.

Triades beach

Triades is a beach on the western coast of Milos, a track road will take you there.

For interest shake, Triades means trinity in Greek and is part of 3 beaches where different ridges separate these beaches from each other. They are the most secluded beaches nearby Milos. Sometimes in the evening, they are affected by strong winds.

Although Triades is a natural scenic area it is not organized at all and no tourist facilities are found close by.

Still worthwhile to pass by.

Vani beach

Vani Beach is very famous because of its colourful mine and is located at the most northwestern spot of Milos. It can easily be reached by car or by boat.

Vani is approximately 25km from Adamas, an impressive abandoned manganese mine. The exploitation lasted for several decades, started back in 1871, and. Living in the mines for an entire week was the norm back then, the workers returned by fishing boats to Adamas after completing the week’s work. The mine ceased operations as far back as 1928 due to reducing ore prices and being uneconomical. Administration buildings ruin still scatter the countryside and a colorful path that takes visitors to the picturesque quaint beach with beautiful pebbles in vibrant colours. The last 3-4km of the road to Vani needs a 4WD vehicle, like this because of a real 4×4 trek. The rest of the road is normal and in good drivable condition. No refreshments or shops are available with the closest store back at the port of Adamas. This trip usually takes about 45 minutes from Vani by car. You will get a glimpse of the great rock of Cape Vani once reaching the beach, this impressive vertical outcrop, just popping out of the deep blue sea as if someone tossed it into the sea. This is a mecca doe rock climber from around the world and an iconic climbing spot in the Greek islands, if not the most iconic spot.

Voudia beach

Away from the civil beaches, Voudia is located on the northeastern side of the island.

Taking the northern bumpy road, you will pass the turn-offs for Sarankiniko, Alogomandra, Papafaragas, and the town of Pollonia. Taking a quad bike will be a good idea to tackle the rough off-road, and of course, you will know that having an area map is always a good idea.

Once you reach Voudia beach it will surprise you with white stones and milky blue water that washes up on the shore ever so calmly. There are no facilities such as toilets or nearby cafes, therefore I will suggest you take your backpack with your refreshments and toiletries.

If you are on the lookout for adventure you can add this beach to your visit list.

Gerontas beach

Gerontas beach is located in the southern part of Milos. More worth it to go there by boat but is also accessible by car.

The beach of Gerontas is a small hidden gem set among the rocks, where you will find the tiny little beach of sand and the special dark pebbles.

There are no sunbeds and umbrellas, but never mind – still, you can enjoy the beauty that surrounds you and relax and chill it out on the sunny beach or in the still quiet waters.

Oh yes and don’t forget your snorkel kit, there are beautiful natural arches, caves, and ridges that await to be discovered and to be explored.

Looking for some quietness, peace, and relaxation combined with a bit of adventure? This is the beach on the list.
