Livadi Beaches

Sandy, Secluded, Non Organised, Family Friendly, Shade

Location: On the northeastern side of Iraklia

Livadi beach (Aldo referred to as Mourto cove in some maps) is Iraklia’s largest beach and the most popular beach on the island. The beach is located on the northeastern side of the island with the islet of Venetiko just opposite. The old fort of Kastro is just behind it. This sandy beach has trees that offers shade to its visitors. There is also a volleyball net, and the waters are very shallow which makes it ideal for families.

There is ample parking at the beach and it is accessible for wheelchair users. During the summer months a minibus passes the beach three times a day. You can also walk to the beach from Agios Georgios or take a boat from the port.

 

Agios Georgios beach

Sandy, Non Organised, Harbor, wheelchair and pram friendly

Location: Northern side of Iraklia

Agios Georgios beach is located next to the port of Iraklia. It can be reached by walking. The beach is long and sandy and there are some trees that offer shade to visitors. There are tourist facilities nearby, like restaurants, rooms to let as well as taverns and cafes. The beach is wheelchair and pram friendly.

 

Alimia beach

Alimia beach is located on the southwestern side of Iraklia. The beach is a sandy cove and it has wonderful shallow waters. There are 2 beaches at Alimia beach, the smaller beach is ideal for families with its shallow waters and is sheltered from the sun by the cave-like formation.

The other beach is known for the wreckage of a German Arado AR196 aircraft that sank there during the World War II.

Access to the beach is mainly by boat. During summertime there are daily trips with the sea bus.

 

Ammoudi beach

Ammoudi beach is a very impressive, pebbled beach situated at the bay of Merichas. The beach is surrounded by imposing cliffs where birds settle to nest. The beach is ideal for snorkelling as it has crystal clear waters. The beach can only be accessed by boat.

 

Vorini Spilia beach

Sandy, isolated

Vorini Spilia is located on the northern coast of Iraklia and get its name from two small interesting rocky caves located at one side (Spilia means cave). This beautiful turquoise waters and fine sand makes this a gorgeous beach. This is an isolated beach and ideal for nature lovers that require peace and quietness.

The beach can be reached by boat or by foot. Also accessible by wheelchair or pram.

 

Karvounolakos beach

Pebbled, Secluded, snorkelling

This is a small, pebbled beach and can be found on the southern coast of Iraklia. It has impressive rock formations around the beach ranging in all colours from green to copper and gold. Some rocks form cave like formations, big enough for a small boat to pass through.

The beach is ideal for nature lovers, and excellent for snorkelling. The beach is accessible by boat, and not on foot. During the summer months there are daily boat trips.

 

Tourkopigado beach

Pebbled and stones

Tourkopigado beach can be found 2km away from the village of Panagia in the bay of Tourkopigado. It has a beautiful view going down to the beach. The beach is very secluded and offers peace and tranquillity to its visitors. The beach can be accessed by bus especially during the summer months.
