Mouros Beach

Mouros beach is located 15km southeast of Chora and can be reached through Arkesini village by an asphalt road for 2km up to the parking area. It is a 10min walk to the beach from the parking area. The pebbled beach with the amazing turquoise waters of the sea and imposing rocks, makes this a magnificent beach to visit.
The highlight of this beach is the two caves which you can swim to and explore by snorkelling. Above the beach in the parking are you can find a café/bar where you can enjoy great views of the sea. In close distance you can find the villages of Arkesini and Kamari.
Agios Pavlos Beach

Agios Pavlos Beach is located in the north of the island, around 8km from Aegialis. The water is crystal clear which makes it a perfect place for diving, swimming, snorkelling and fishing. Many boats anchor here in the summer. The beach can be reached by car as its close to the road. There is also a nice restaurant for tourists serving local cuisine.
From Agios Pavlos, there is provision for local excursions to the island of Nikouria. Excursions are scheduled every hour to Nikouria and there are 3 sandy beaches that can be visited.
Aegiali Beach

Being one of the most picturesque beaches of Amorgos tourists are attracted to the breath-taking views of white sand, beautiful blue seas and green vegetation. Beautiful Pine Trees on the beach provide shade for families with young children.
Along the beach walk there is a playground, sunbeds with umbrellas, taverns, bars and cafes. It is also only a few minutes’ walk to the city centre where you will find supermarkets and other facilities. Accommodation options are also nearby.
Maltezi Beach

Location: 9km west of Chora. Located in Katapola bay, it takes about 30 minutes to walk there or you can take the transfer boat from the port of Katapola.

Maltezi beach is situated northwest to Katapola port. It is a very picturesque sandy beach which is unaffected by the Meltemi winds. This is a very popular beach under tourists because of the bluish green sea and fine sand.
The beach lies between Katapola port and Maltezi and can be accessed by boat or it takes 30 minutes to walk there passing through the settlement of Xilokeratidi.
Agia Anna Beach

This beautiful beach is located close to Chora and just a few steps away from the monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa, the most important sight of Amorgos.
To reach the beach you can walk 30-40 minutes from the monastery, or it can be reached by car. The beach is small and rocky and there is no sunbeds or umbrellas. You will need to take all the essentials with you and therefore it is not very child friendly.
The water is crystal clear and offers amazing diving and snorkelling opportunities. The stunning waters of Agia Anna is also famous as it was captured in the English movie, “The Big Blue”.
There are two beaches on your right, Sirma and Kambi (nudist spot), which is also accessible on foot.
Levressos Beach

Location: 16km north of Chora. Located at Levressos, it takes around 30minutes to walk here from Aegiali. A transfer boat can be taken from the port of Aegiali or you can drive there and walk 200m to the beach.

Levressos is a beautiful beach located 1km from the cove of Aegialis, on the northern side of Amorgos and can be accessed through a path from Tholaria village or by small boat from Aegiali. This beach is popular among nudists.
Levressos is a long beach surrounded by rocky and steep cliffs and the water is swallow only for the first meters. There are two other beaches nearby called Psiliamos and Choklakas which also has no facilities.
The closest tourist facilities are in Aegialis and Tholaria villages, not far from Levressos.
Kalotaritisa Beach

Kalotaritissa is a sandy bay, protected from winds, found on the southernmost tip of Amorgos. The beach is fairly long and offers shade to beach goers. This sandy beach with transparent, clean waters, is a favourite spot for fishermen with their small fishing boats anchored in the bay.
The beach can be reached by car or by bus and then on foot to the beach. There is also a small beach café and sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented.
From Kalotaritissa beach one can take a boat ride to the nearby island of Gramvousa. Gramvousa is a nice beach too, but it doesn’t have all the tourist amenities. It is advisable to carry one’s own necessities.
Nikouria Beach

Nikouria is a small uninhabited island which is very close to Agios Pavlos, 5km from the port of Aegiali. It was well known for its production of coins in antiquity and later was used as a shelter for lepers from the mainland.
There are 3 nice unspoilt beaches and the water is calm and clear, a good diving and fishing spot, although the water can be cold. One is s rather long beach whereas the other two are smaller in size.
The beaches on Nikouria are sandy and scattered rocks can be found lying along their expanse. They can only be reached by boat and every 30 minutes there is a transfer boat from Agios Pavlos.
It is recommended to carry your own food and drinks as there is no basic tourist amenities, like restaurants and cafes on Nikouria.
Agioi Saranta Beach

Agioi Saranta, also known as the 40 Saints, is an ideal place for peace, tranquillity and privacy. It is a beautiful secluded beach with crystal clear waters. On windy days you need to take extra caution because the streams can be very strong.
Swimming can also be dangerous here as it is fairly deep due to the proximity to Katapola port. The beach lack tourist amenities as well as shade, and therefore are normally less crowded.
To get to the beach you have to drive on the road that pass Minoa, continue until the road ends. From there it is about 30 minutes’ walk. Or you can also walk along path no 3 from Katapola.
Agios Panteleimon Beach

This beach is located next to the chapel St Panteleimon on the north side of the bay of Katapola. It is a stone beach with a little bit of sand and is ideal for private swimming.
The beach shares its name with the nearby small church in the vicinity. Agios Panteleimon beach is accessible by boat from Katapola port to Maltezi and then 5 minutes’ walk. Or you could walk around 20 minutes to reach the beach from Katapola.
Finikis Beach

It is a remote beach which is in walking distance from the port of Katapola on path no 3 or you can drive there on the road that passes Minoa, and just before Lefkas there is a path going down to the beach. Secluded and surrounded by wild cliffs, Finikes has clean water and no tourist facilities at all. Due to the remoteness it frequently becomes a nudist spot. On windy days extra caution need to be taken as streams can be strong.
From Finikes you get a wide view of the Aegean Sea and the sunsets are amazing to watch from here. The closest tourist facilities and accommodation can be found in Katapola, one of the busiest villages in Amorgos.
Hohlakas Beach

Location: 18km north east of Chora
Hohlakas beach is located 3km from the port of Aegialis, on the northern side of Amorgos. It is a small secluded beach and offer no tourist amenities like sunbeds or umbrellas.
The beach is named after the thick pebble, “halki” in Greek. The small cove is surrounded by tall hills and the rocky shore is pretty inconvenient for swimming, but nice for snorkelling.
The beach can be reached by car and then on foot.
Katapola Beach

Katapola beach can be found in the middle of Amorgos beach. The harbour at Katapola is one of the finest natural harbours in the Aegean Sea and the Cycladic region. Numerous sailing boats anchor her for shelter.
Katapola is a long sandy beach and stretches through 3 settlements: Katapola, Rahidi and Xilokeratidi. It is also close to the nearby settlement of Minoa, which is an ancient archaeological site that is open throughout the year.
Katapola is a perfect beach in the summer for tourists as it has enough natural shade and nearby amenities.
Kambi Beach

Location: 4km from Chora, near the Monastery of Hozoviotissa, just 10 minutes’ walk from the beach of Agia Anna.

This pebbled beach is located near the Monastery of Hozoviotissa, about 10 minutes’ walk from the beach of Agia Anna. It is opposite the islet Grand Viokastro and perfect for snorkelling. The beach has great views, but strong winds can blow as it is open to the east and the sea can be rough. The beach is also called Ammoudi.
The beach is popular under nudists as it is pretty secluded with high cliffs around it. You need to bring your own food and drinks as there is no amenities nearby.
Kambi is also a nice spot for diving due to the surrounding rocks.
Kato Kambos Beach

Kata Kambos beach is near the settlement of Kolofana and is a pretty scenic gulf with fine sand and pebbles. There is a nice little chapel built right at the seashore which can be visited. The waters are clean and shallow which makes it enjoyable to swim in.
There are no tourist facilities nearby, so be prepared to bring your own supplies for the day. The beach is accessible from Kolofana with a small path.
Paradisia Beach

Psili Ammos is a small beach located 18km north of Chora and 2km from the cove of Aegialis, just after the beach of Levressos. The beach is famous for its clear waters and natural beauty as it is surrounded by steep cliffs and an impressive environment with vast plantation and some tamarisk trees providing shade to visitors.
It is a great spot for diving and snorkelling due to the calm, clear waters. The beach is a small cove and protected from winds.
It takes about 45 minutes to walk from the port of Aegiali. During high season there is a small transfer boat which leave the port of Aegiali every 20 minutes. You can also go by car to Levrossos beach and then walk 30 minutes to reach the beach.
Fokiotrypa Beach

Fokiotrypa is located 15km north of Chora and is one of the best swimming spots in Amorgos due to the calm sea waters. The beach is located close to Aegialis, the second busiest village on the island.
The beach is protected from winds by surrounding cliffs which makes it the perfect place for families with children. Fokiotrypa is usually not crowded, unlike its neighbouring beach Aegiali. It is also the perfect spot for nature lovers who want to discover a different part of the island.

Diving and snorkelling are one of the best things to do at Plakes beach as it offers abundant sea life. Plakes can be reached on foot from Katapola and is close to other small beaches.
Chalara Beach

One of the quietest beaches in Amorgos, but with crystal clear waters and a rocky beach. Chalara can be reached by walking from Aegiali on the footpath which goes to the Monastery of Hozoviotissa and takes around 2 hours. Or you can drive to the farming area of Asfondilitis and walk there around 45 minutes to 1 hour. It is a demanding walk so you need good walking shoes and need to be an experienced hiker.
Chochlakas Beach

A small pebble beach with some parts covered with sand. The beach is located on the north part of the island and can be reached from the port of Aegiali by foot in around 50-60 minutes.
During the high season it is possible to go by small transfer boat to Psiliamos beach, which leaves every 20 minutes, and then you need to walk 10 minutes to Chochlakes beach.
If you want to go by car, you can drive to Levrossos beach and walk 40 minutes from there to the beach. This is not the most popular option, but some like to do this.

Limenari beach is a small beach located 1km outside Aegiali. Getting there might be a challenge as there is no signs to show where the beach is. The beach can be found on the road from Aegiali to Chora.

A small sandy and pebbled beach located just outside Tholaria, with crystal clear waters. It is sheltered by rocks and makes it a good spot if you prefer a quieter beach. You can reach the beach by foot if you have good walking boots. It will take around 45 minutes and you walk through the gorge of Mikri Glyfada with its wild beauty. The path is steep and rocky, but a nice hiking experience.
Tirokomos Beach

Tirokomos is just down from Lefkas in an area with water springs and dense vegetation. It is the perfect spot for nature lovers as it is a private and tranquil beach with crystal clear waters. On windy days streams can be very strong and extra care needs to be taken.
To get to Tirokomos you drive on the road that passes Minoa to Lefkas. When arriving in Lefkas, about 50 meters after a small bridge you make a short detour which will lead you to the springs and then the beach. You can also walk along path no 3 from Katapola.
Gramvousa Islet Beach

You can take a small transfer boat to the island that leaves every hour from Kalotaritissa.
Mikri Vlyhada Beach

The beach is a small bay with sand and pebbles. It is unorganised and located at the mouth of a gorge. The pristine wild scenery takes your breath away.
